Experience and History
SunRise Solar and Wind is a full service Class “A” Virginia Solar & Wind Energy Contractor offering Sales, Service, Design and Installation. Our Mission is to educate and initiate renewable energy options with the use of wind, solar and geothermal applications. We believe in the renewal of America’s economy by harnessing our natural resources to create independent energy and the creation of new jobs and careers.
What We Do
Large or small. Residence or business. Sunrise Solar and Wind can assist you in developing renewable energy applications which will provide you years of self-sufficient energy. Our partners at Environmental Resource Outlet, the parent company of CozyPure® manufacturing, features a full-scale working system of geothermal with both solar and wind power to generate the energy needs of their factory. Sunrise Solar and Wind provided the service and installation of a hybrid-system for the CozyPure® factory and offices. You can view this system on-site by visiting our showroom.
Our People
Richard Hahn
Richard began exploring renewable energy in the 1980’s. His passion for solar and wind was professionally developed in 1991, when he and his wife opened Tomorrow’s World, one of America’s first green-living stores. Under his direction and expertise, the company offered a full-array of alternative energy systems including consultation, installation and service. Tomorrow’s World was one of the first companies in the country to offer now-common products such as instant hot water heaters, compact-flourescent light bulbs, energy-efficient appliances… all of which are vital when making the decision to implement renewable energy. The first Tomorrow’s World location showcased all these products in working-demonstration, including on-site solar and wind. Richard left Tomorrow’s World in 2002 and focused his energies on the revitalization and restoration of a run-down pedestrian mall, now called Seaside Block. SunRise Solar and Wind is located in this now vibrant building featuring renewable power which we installed.
Frank Stroud
Frank is president of SMI Mechanical, a leading HVAC sales and service business headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia. With his vast experience in geothermal HVAC systems, and his excellent staff of qualified technicians, Frank’s knowledge in the industry brings great benefits to the customers of Sunrise Solar and Wind. Frank has been involved with geothermal applications for over twenty five years. He has superior expertise in design and consult of systems, as well as on-site installations. His technical engineering background and mechanical trouble-shooting offers Sunrise Solar and Wind a cutting-edge as leaders in the field. Implementing renewable energy options with traditional applications is something Frank is very passionate about. He looks forward to the growth of Sunrise Solar and Wind and the vision of sunny days giving us all a burst of energy.
Cheryl Hahn
Cheryl thinks wind turbines are sexy. As a green-living expert and consultant, she understands the importance of coming full-circle by choosing products that enhance the wellness of our home environment and our planet’s health. She has great enthusiasm to promote and educate people about the benefits of a greener lifestyle, including the implementation of renewable energy. Two decades ago, Cheryl and her husband founded Tomorrow’s World - a national mail order company which offered a full selection of eco-minded solutions, including off-the-grid applications. Today Cheryl still owns and operates Tomorrow’s World as well as several other green businesses, one of which manufactures earth-friendly bedding products. CozyPure® organic bedding is the first and only organic bedding facility in America which comes full-circle by using geothermal HVAC, solar energy and wind power to manufacture their products.

Visit Our Showroom
Located in Ocean View, Norfolk our showroom features working demonstrations of two wind turbines and a full array of solar panels on-site. Of course, we’ve done this before. In 1991 we showcased renewable energy at the Tomorrow’s World green-living store location on Military Highway. Today, we’re powering computers, lights and sewing machines for CozyPure®, our sister-company which manufactures “green” organic bedding… produced with green power.
